Evan Brunell is a baseball journalist currently writing at CBS Sports and is also president of the Massachusetts chapter of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Brunell attended Northeastern University where he completed a major in journalism and minor in business administration.

On December 31, 2003 while a senior in high school, Brunell  decided to start a Red Sox blog. Born out of that blog was the Most Valuable Network, LLC where Brunell is majority owner and President.

MVN was an independent sports media company relying on the volunteered time of people to “blog,” or write on the internet, about their favorite sports team or any derivation thereof. MVN aggressively explored what a sports blog network can do on the internet, and prides itself on being the first and largest sports blog network on the internet. Along with MVN, Evan led the Red Sox blog Fire Brand of the American League, which gained a quick reputation for being one of the best analytical Red Sox blogs on the internet, a reputation that continues to this day. He currently oversees Fire Brand but does not contribute writings anymore.

MVN announced its closing in December 2009, officially shutting the doors after the New Year. Brunell then spent some time contributing to  NBC Sports’ Rotoworld.com as well as appearing in the 2010 spring training magazine run by Rotoworld and Beckett.  He wrote a weekly column for The Hardball Times from November 2008 to February 2010, appearing in the 2010 THT annual, then accepted a job writing for the New England Sports Network. He served in this position through June and then joined CBSSports.com as baseball writer contributing to the Eye on Baseball blog. He also serves as Datacaster for MLB.com in the summer of 2011, scoring games at Fenway Park.

Throughout all this, Brunell continues to contribute depth charts and Red Sox player comments to both HEATER Magazine and The Hardball Times.

Brunell is orally deaf. His deafness was discovered at the age of one and was then outfitted with hearing aids. He wore hearing aids until 16 years of age when he underwent cochlear implant surgery. The internal piece failed and he underwent surgery again in 2007, this one successful.

    Hey Evan

I wrote on the mvn.com website under Jays nest-posting on the Toronto Blue Jays-and I was hoping if there were some way I can gain access to my posts as I would like to reference them as I apply for other opportunities.

    Thanks
